Spiritual transformation through divine teaching in medieval dream poem Pearl

This paper aims to analyse the spiritual transformation of Dreamer/Narrator on his way from a sinful nature divine virtue in medieval dream poem Pearl by Gawain-poet. At beginning poem, bereaved dreamer is grieving for loss girl, most probably daughter and mourns lost “pearl”. He cannot comfort himself any means fails surrender will as consolation. As typical aspect genre, dreamer, then, sleeps finds vision where he meets “Pearl Maiden”. The maiden looks like pearl, yet notices that she has been transfigured. She marks lives blissfully queen New Jerusalem now one brides Lamb. Through theological argument, Maiden intends teach him values make abandon worldly desires which too loyal. After this peculiar experience, wakes up realizes also transformed into person who can intense submitting heavenly virtues. In light, examines changes perspective penchant total conduct under guidance Maiden.
